Topic - Daffodils

Presenter - Dennis Knopp

Today members enjoyed a wonderful presentation all about Daffodils given to us by Dennis Knopp. It included a splendid digital display of all the many and varied types of Daffodils. The photos were truly stunning. Dennis also brought along examples of Daffodil bulbs and root systems for us to see. He gave us very useful information on how and when to plant, both in garden beds and in pots. Daffodils are very suited to pots and Dennis gave us some tips and tricks to ensure a spectacular result. Positioning is best in full sun to light shade. Dennis also gave us tips on watering, fertilising, and how to handle the bulb after flowering. He also discussed appropriate potting mixes and raising Daffodils from seed. So it was a morning full of ideas for the members to take home with them. Thank you very much Dennis for an informative and enjoyable talk.

The Betty Knox Award (Best Exhibit)

The worthy winner for the month of April was Christine Phillips with a stunning basket of mixed flowers. This beautiful display included large roses of varying shades of pink and white as well as a variety of other floral delights. The arrangement and presentation was superb.

The judges were not the only ones to be captivated by Christine's exhibit - the members voted this entry as the most popular this month, so congratulations Christine for winning both awards. Well done!
