Topic - Safer Garden Products

Presenter - Michael Patten from Multicrop

Our presentation this month centred on safer products to use in our gardens. Our speaker was Michael Patten from Multicrop, a company with over forty years experience in producing safer sustainable products which are more environmentally friendly. The first product they produced was 'Maxicrop[' made from seaweed from Norway. Over the years they have developed a wide variety of specialist products including fertilizers and insecticides.

Michael gave a very helpful and informative talk and answered members questions regarding the management and upkeep of their gardens. Thank you Michael for giving us your time and expertise - it was greatly appreciated!

The Betty Knox Award (Best Exhibit)

Among an impressive array of exhibits there was one which definitely stood out this month. It was brought along by Vicki Zalac and was entitled "Treasure Box of Mushrooms" and it was precisely that. Vicki had discovered an amazing assortment of mushrooms growing in her garden and had shown them off to great effect in a treasure box belonging to one of her children. Eye-catching, interesting and imaginatively presented, the Judges could not go past this exhibit and neither could the members who also voted it......

Popular Vote Award

......the most popular exhibit this month. For two consecutive months Vicki has won both awards and is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with on the show bench. The members are very keen to see what she'll come up with for next month! Congratulations Vicki - very well done!
