January Meeting 2016

Tuesday 19th January 2016

Member's Panel

Presenters - William Orange & Kevin Yeap

As is our usual custom, January meeting is always our member's panel, when some of our members take the floor and give us a presentation. This year it was William and Kevin. Firstly William gave us an informative and very useful talk on Defibrillators - how and when to use them. He spoke about CPR and informed us that 30 compressions and 2 breaths is now recommended. Defibrillators are now in most clubs and sporting facilities and it's important to know how to use them, so thank you William for your instruction - it is much appreciated.

Next Kevin put together a spectacular series of digital slide shows showcasing many beautiful flowers, plants and trees including a lovely Japanese Garden accompanied by beautiful Japanese music. Also amazing wisteria, orchids, azaleas, peonies and an intriguing variety of pine cones - all set to music, ranging from serene classical to an upbeat latin rhythm. Thank you very much Kevin - the members enjoyed it immensely.

The Betty Knox Award (Best Exhibit)

Our first award for best in show for 2016 was won by Bob Yeomans who exhibited a spectacular display of Gloriosa Lillies. Truly eye-catching! Congratulations Bob - a great start to the year!

Popular Vote Award

As he has done on numerous occasions over the past year, Ron Lewis took out the popular vote this month. He exhibited a stunning Rossack Red Tuberous Begonia. Well done Ron - the members always look forward to what you're going to display each month - Congratulations!
