March Meeting

Tuesday 15th March 2016

Topic - Succulents & Cactus

Presenter - Attila Kapitany

It was a fun and interesting morning spent listening to Attila Kapitany as he enthralled all of us with his presentation on succulents and cactus. His enthusiasm for these plants was obvious and very infectious as members listened to Attila explain how well suited they are to our Australian climate. Most are easy to grow but some are a little more difficult. He also gave us a digital display of many varied types of succulents, from the beautiful to the weird and wonderful, which dazzled us all with an amazing array of creative possibilities on how and where to grow them. Attila brought along a large selection of plants, cuttings and books for purchase and the members were very eager. Thank you Attila for inspiring us all - we are now succulent converts!

The Betty Knox Award (Best Exhibit)

Well Ron Lewis was back to his old tricks again this month, bringing along another amazing offering for us to ogle. This time it was an exquisite Tuberous Begonia by the name of "Sugar Candy." The judges were suitably impressed - well done Ron!

Popular Vote Award

Just as the judges were impressed by Ron's exhibit, so too were the members who voted it as this month's best. Ron has yet again taken out both awards - a worthy winner - Congratulations Ron!
