May Meeting 2015

Tuesday 19th May 2015

Topic - Lavender Products

Presenter - Anne Maree Manders

(Warratina Lavender Farm)

This month our members were treated to a delightful presentation by Anne Maree Manders from Warratina Lavender Farm, which not only grows lavender but also specializes in producing all manner of wonderful lavender based products. Anne Maree told us how she began Warratina Lavender Farm as a hobby many years ago, but it has evolved into a large concern which now boasts a shop and a cafe. Anne Maree has expanded her product range over 24 years and now has a Culinary range and a Cosmetic range of items. These include soaps, creams, oils, sachets, shampoo, bubble bath and many others. She brought many of these products along to our meeting and created a beautiful display for the members, as well as giving an informative talk on the wonders (and hazards) of growing lavender, and informed us of its many uses. We thank Anne Maree for a fun and interesting morning.

The Betty Knox Award (Best Exhibit)

While there were many beautiful exhibits this month, the one that caught the Judge's eye was a lovely container of Salvia staged by Mary Jacobs. There were various colours including red, purple, white, crimson and blue. The burst of colour was very pleasing and was a very worthy winner. Congratulations Mary!

Popular Vote Award

Just as the Judges couldn't go past the Salvia, neither could the members who also voted Mary's exhibit the most popular, so for the fourth month running, one member has taken out both awards! Well done Mary!
